Teaching with Cindy: Anjali Gupta

Anjali Gupta, PT, MSPT, CLT

Interview with Anjali Gupta

I had the privilege to interview Anjali Gupta, a close friend of Cindy, who had taught alongside her multiple times and is continuing to teach some of her courses. They first met when Cindy came to teach Anjali’s Torticollis class at Texas Children's in 2007. Cindy was known as a “big wig” in the PT community so Anjali was cautious about talking to her at first, but they were friends by the end of the weekend. That friendship grew steadily over the years and evolved from her being a “professional” friend to someone I called about everything.

Passion for Teaching

On the teaching side, Cindy had a great passion for the profession and the impact it has on patients and families. She was always excited when someone understood a new concept or was excited about the impact they were making. Cindy has taught courses on torticollis and plagiocephaly, which Anjali continues to teach. When teaching together, Anjali noted Cindy had a great mix of theory and practical advice. She emphasized being mindful of the complexity of the diagnosis while also being cognizant that families can only take in so much information.

Engaging Classroom Experience

In the classroom, Cindy always made it fun, regardless of the format. She was incredibly engaging and was great at drawing the audience into the discussion. Recently, Anjali was teaching some of Cindy’s material and someone in the audience said “Thanks for sharing her information with us.” Anjali says “It was a truly moving moment because it brought home that people still value the impact she had on the treatment of torticollis and on our patients.
